HOW TO GET THE BEST OUT OF OUR CLASSIFIEDS

Thousands of musicians will see and use the Classifieds to buy or sell their old equipment and instruments. Whilst we believe that the majority of Venue Music classified users will have no problems, however, just like using any other form of advertising such as the classified newspapers or over the internet, you should take reasonable precautions. This should help avoid any misunderstandings and ensure that both buyers and sellers get what was advertised and are both satisfied.

How to Sell, some good Tips

1. The VENUE CLASSIFIED is NOT available for use for Dealers, Auctions or people who make a profit buying and selling. Venue Music always reserves the right to pull off any advert (at our discretion) that we deem is a trader shop auction or plain wrong etc.
2. Be accurate with the description Brand name, model, colour, condition, repaired or not, working condition or not. PUT YOUR CONTACT DETAILS IN THE AD
3. Point out if something is missing, like a tremolo arm or speakers in a cabinet, manuals, accessories etc. Put in as much info as you can.
4. Make sure you and the possible buyer are clear about exactly how much money is changing hands. Decide who is paying the freight and insurance and how the item is being sent before you finalize the deal.
5. If you are going to Insure, make sure the insured amount covers both the item and the freight costs.
6. It is important to pack the item safely and securely. Use bubble wrap and outer cartons when ever possible.
7. PAYMENT: Agree before hand exactly how the items is going to be paid for. Be careful of credit cards over the phone with out checking 2 forms of ID One of the best ways to be safe is to use a Bank or Credit Union cheque. If it is a private cheque remember it can take up to 10 working days for the cheque to clear and the money to go into your bank. 8. Make sure you double check with the buyer by e-mail or phone that everything is in order. The correct item, price, address and make double sure you tell the buyer if there is going to be a delay. Don't promise next day or over night it always takes longer then you think
9. Give the buyer a call to make sure everything arrived on time and satisfactorily.

How to buy

1. Distance is the main problem, so see if you have a mate or a relative who can check the item and even pick it up for you especially if it is interstate.
2. Double check the Sellers details, home, address, business address, and phone numbers of the seller. Be careful of just mobile numbers (Don't forget you can check out phone number on sites such as www.whitepages.com.au (only for listed numbers)
3. You should always ask the seller for references name and phone numbers if they have sold stuff before .
4. DON'T just send the seller a cheque or GIVE OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER Be careful.
5. Don't buy anything unless you are absolutely certain that you want it. Sellers on Venue Music Classifieds are private people & not in businesses. So if you change your mind or don't like the item its near impossible to get your money back or take any action.
